Indian businesses are increasing investment in Vietnam
In 2020, Vietnam is India's 17th largest trading partner and 4th among ASEAN countries after Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia. The main export products from India to Vietnam are iron and steel, meat and seafood, cotton, pharmaceuticals, auto parts and machinery. India mainly imports from Vietnam machinery and equipment, telephones, chemicals, copper, coffee, iron and steel.
In terms of investment, India has invested an estimated $1.9 billion in Vietnam, including investment through a third country. According to data from the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Vietnam, by the end of 2020, India has 294 valid projects in Vietnam, with a total investment capital of about 898 million USD, ranked 26th in the list of countries and territories investing in Vietnam.
The main areas of investment are energy, mining, agricultural processing, sugar production, tea, coffee, agrochemicals, information technology and auto parts.
